Gujarat Titans (GT) continued their stupendous run in their maiden season as they defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by five wickets in a last-ball thriller at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday (April 27).
In what was a game of twists and turns with the momentum shifting often from one side to another, the Hardik Pandya-led side eventually prevailed while chasing 196 with Rahul Tewatia (40*) and Rashid Khan (31*) successfully achieving the 22-run target in the final over bowled by Marco Jansen of SRH. He ended up conceding 25 runs in the over with Tewatia hitting a six and then Rashid smashing three sixes.
As the game slipped out of SRH's hands despite Umran Malik's fiery five-wicket haul, spin bowling coach Muttiah Muralitharan was seen losing his cool at Jansen who conceded 63 runs in 4 overs. Murali yelled "why the f**k is he bowling full" as Jansen made it easier for Tewatia and Rashid with his fuller length deliveries on a easy paced pitch.
Murali, as he is lovingly called, is the leading wicket-taker in international cricket's history, and was famous during his illustrious career for the beaming smile that he had on his face whatever the match situation of Sri Lanka and later his franchise teams. But the pressure at IPL has got to calmest of former cricketers like Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman in the past, and now Muralitharan.
