Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicket-keeper batter Jos Buttler reacted hilariously after R Ashwin asked him about MCC’s rule change on Mankading.
Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) recently announced new amendments to its 2022 law code. The cricket laws will be effective from 1st October 2022. One of the major changes was in the run outlaws.
The Mankad dismissal was moved from Law 41 (Unfair play) to Law 38 (Run out). It has sparked many controversies over the years with many calling it against the ‘spirit of the game’.

R Ashwin affected this mode of dismissal during the IPL 2019. Playing for Punjab Kings, the senior off-spinner ran out RR’s Jos Buttler by removing the bails at the non-striker’s end before bowling the delivery.
As RR acquired the services of Ashwin in the IPL 2022 auction, there were a lot of speculations about how he along with Buttler will go along in the same team. However, the duo has been sharing a great bond between them and have often been seen together, sharing light moments.
In a video shared by Rajasthan Royals on their YouTube channel, Jos Buttler asked R Ashwin what would be his first question to him.
“You have invited me for an interview on your YouTube channel. What would be your first question to me?" Buttler said.
Replying to this, Ashwin cheekily asked Buttler what he thinks about the change in Mankad rule. To which, the keeper-batter said that he knew that the off-spinner will ask him this question only.
“Jos. What do you think about the rule change?" Ashwin said.
"I thought that would be it,” replied Buttler.
Ashwin then quipped that he won’t ask him about that but questioned him that how will he hit the ball outside off-stump, which is the hardest ball in the game, over cover for a six.

"No, it isn't actually that one. So my question to you would be a bit technical. How do you hit that ball outside off-stump over cover for a six. It's the hardest ball in the game and how do you do that," said Ashwin.
Both Buttler and Ashwin have played a great role in RR’s success this season. While the English batter is currently the leading run-scorer with 491 runs in just seven matches, the off-spinner has bowled pretty well and has taken 4 wickets at an economy of 7.6.
RR, occupying third spot on the points table, will next face Royal Challengers Bangalore on Tuesday (26th April) at MCA Stadium in Pune.
