The IPL 2022 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and
The DC camp was unhappy with the on-field umpire not referring a high full toss to the third umpire. As per the rules, a third umpire can only check for a waist-high no-ball if the batsman is dismissed.
This led to Pant angrily asking his batters Rovman Powel and Kuldeep Yadav, to walk off the field. However, Shane Watson calmed things down, but a furious Rishabh Pant still sent out Amre to have a word with the umpire on the field.
As per a report in The Indian Express, the former India batsman wasn't keen to enter the playing area. But he had to enter the field as Rishabh would have walked to the umpires had Amre stayed in the dug-out. Pant had reportedly told Amre that if he doesn’t go out there to have a word with the umpires, then he himself with go.
“Pant told Amre that ‘Sir, will you go and talk to the umpires or shall I go?’. At that stage, Amre felt it would be unwise for the skipper to walk on to the field and that is why he went and spoke to the umpires,” a DC source told Indian Express.
While DC lost the match, IPL governing council took severe action against them as well. Rishabh and Amre have been fined 100% of their matches fees. The assistant coach is also banned for one game. Shardul has been fined 50% of his match fees.
The win saw RR climbing to the top spot in the points table. But they are now placed at the 3rd spot. DC has 3 wins from 7 matches and sits at the 6th spot.
