IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as PBKS win last-over thriller to keep MI winless in IPL 15

PBKS defeated MI by 12 runs | BCCI/IPLMumbai Indians (MI) suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) as they lost to Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 12 runs at the MCA Stadium, Pune on Wednesday (April 13).

Invited to bat first, PBKS rode on half-centuries from Shikhar Dhawan (70 off 50 balls) and Mayank Agarwal (52 off 32 balls) to post 198/5 in their 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma also played a valuable cameo of 15-ball 30*.

For MI, pacer Jasprit Bumrah returned with impressive figures of 1 for 28 in his four overs while the other bowlers proved expensive.

In reply, the five-time champions managed 186/9 in their 20 overs. While batters such as Dewald Brevis (49 off 25 balls), Suryakumar Yadav (43 off 30 balls), and Tilak Varma (36 off 20 balls) played good knocks but they failed to take MI over the line.

For Punjab, Odean Smith (4-30 in three overs ) claimed four wickets, including three in the last over while defending 22 runs while Kagiso Rabada recorded the figures of 2 for 29 in his four-over quota.

Cricket fraternity lauded Mayank Agarwal and company for holding their nerves in pressure situations and criticized the MI batters for failing to get the job done.
