Chennai Super Kings (CSK) after suffering four defeats finally completed their first win of the ongoing IPL 2022 season, as they defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 23 runs in a high-scoring clash in Navi Mumbai.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first, while making two changes to the playing XI, as Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Prabhudessai came in for David Willey and Harshal Patel, who left the bubble after a family tragedy. CSK stuck with the same team as in their previous match.
CSK piled up a massive score of 216/4 with opener Robin Uthappa (88) and Shivam Dube (95*) registering their IPL career-best scores, while smashing 17 sixes between themselves.
In reply, RCB fought well but could only manage to post a score of 193/9 with contributions from Shahbaz Ahmed (41), and 34 each from Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik. Mahesh Theekshana starred with 4/33, while captain Ravindra Jadeja took 3/39.

As Karthik has been in spectacular form this season, he was once again threatening to take the game deep before he holed out to Jadeja on the deep mid-wicket boundary off Dwayne Bravo. The new CSK captain was mighty relieved to take the pressure catch that all but sealed his first win as captain.
Here is a video clip shared by the official IPL account of Jadeja falling down in relief after getting rid of the dangerous RCB wicketkeeper-batter.
