Punjab Kings' (PBKS) senior batter Shikhar Dhawan heaped praise on the debutant pacer Vaibhav Arora for his stunning performance in the 11th match of the ongoing IPL 2022 against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, on Sunday (March 3).
On his debut, Arora snared two wickets while conceding 21 runs in his four overs to help PBSK beat CSK by 54 runs to jump to the fourth spot in the points table with 4 points.
Shikhar Dhawan said at the post-match presentation: “It feels great. We made a great comeback. It's amazing. He (Vaibhav) was troubling us in the nets as well. That's why he got the debut today. He bowled a good line and length and used the pitch.”
He added, “I am feeling good (about his own batting). We lost two wickets, so we knew we had to build. Liam Livingstone played an amazing knock to take the game away from the opposition but I also knew I had to step up. We didn't know we would get 180 when we lost two quick wickets but we kept the positive game going. We knew we will be in the game if we take early wickets.”
Notably, Dhawan made 33 off 24 balls, while Liam Livingstone scored a 32-ball 60 to help PBKS post 180 on the board. Chasing the total, CSK was bowled out for 126, losing the game by 54 runs to PBKS.
Mayank Agarwal-led PBKS will next take on the Gujarat Titans on April 8 at the Brabourne Stadium.
