Gujarat Titans (GT) registered their second consecutive victory in the ongoing IPL season as they defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by 14 runs at the MCA Stadium in Pune on Saturday (April 2).
Asked to bat first, GT rode on opener Shubman Gill’s classy 84 off 46 balls to post a highly competitive 171/6 in their 20 overs. Skipper Hardik Pandya (31 off 27 balls) and David Miller (20* off 15 balls) also made notable contributions with the bat.
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman was the stand-out bowler for DC, claiming three wickets by conceding 23 runs in his four overs.
With the ball, the Titans restricted the Capitals to 157/9 in 20 overs. Many of the Delhi batters got starts but failed to take the team over the line. Skipper Rishabh Pant top scored with 29-ball 43 while no other managed to touch the 30-run mark.
Lockie Ferguson starred with the ball for Gujarat as he took four wickets by giving away only 28 runs in his four overs. Hardik Pandya (1-22), Mohammad Shami (1-30), and Rashid Khan (1-30) also returned with impressive figures for the Titans.
For their all-round performance, Hardik Pandya and company received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
