IPL 2022: Cricket fraternity reacts as Lalit Yadav and Akshar Patel carry out a heist as DC wins by 4 wickets

Akshar Patel and Lalit Yadav celebrate after DC won against Mi | IPL-BCCIDelhi Capitals (DC) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in the second match of the IPL 2022 on March 27, 2022, in the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. This was the tournament opener for both these franchises and MI’s poor record in the first matches of IPL tournaments continued.

Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to bowl first. For MI, Tilak Varma, Tymal Mills, Daniel Sams, Tim David, and Basil Thampi made their debuts.  And for DC, Tim Seifert, Rovman Powell, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, and Kamlesh Nagarkoti played their first matches.

MI put on 177/5 with Ishan Kishan making 81* with 11 fours and 2 sixes and Rohit Sharma made 41 runs. The pick of bowlers from Delhi Capitals proved to be Kuldeep Yadav, who was back to his best using all his skills with the ball and picked 3/18 in 4 overs.

Kuldeep Yadav was named the Player of the Match for his 3/18 | BCCI-IPLIn reply, Tim Seifert (21) and Prithvi Shaw (38) started off well, but then M Ashwin (2/14), Basil Thampi (3/35), and Tymal Mills (1/26) damaged the DC middle order with quick wickets. Shardul Thakur scored a quick 22 in 11 balls, but the Delhi side was in trouble when Lalit Yadav and Akshar Patel came together and added 75* runs in the last 5 overs.

Lalit remained unbeaten on 48 in 38 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes, while Akshar made 38* in 17 balls with 3 sixes and 2 fours as DC won the match with 10 balls to spare and 4 wickets in hand.

Jasprit Bumrah (0/43 in 3.2 overs) and Daniel Sams (0/57) gave away 100 runs in between themselves.

The Cricket fraternity was in awe of the amazing comeback by Lalit Yadav and Akshar Patel and lauded the duo on Twitter.
