IPL 2022: WATCH - Build 3-4 stadiums in their city- Rohit Sharma’s savage retort on MI’s ‘home advantage’ issue

The IPL 2022 league stage will be held entirely in Mumbai and Pune.

Rohit Sharma at the Brabourne Stadium | IPLMumbai Indians (MI) captain Rohit Sharma came up with a witty retort when talking about other franchises complaining to the IPL management over MI having a home advantage as the league stage of the IPL 2022 will be played entirely in Maharashtra with three venues situated in Mumbai and one in Pune.

The IPL 2022 edition is a special edition since it is has seen the tournament expand to a 10-team event. Also, it is the first time since 2019 that IPL matches being held in India are being played in front of crowds.

To ensure the containment of COVID, BCCI decided to play all the 70 league matches of IPL 2022 in Maharashtra itself. This will ensure that teams stay in one hotel throughout the tournament and do not have to travel by air. But other franchises accused that the five-time IPL champions MI had an advantage, an unfair one.

However, during a fan interaction for the MI TV, Rohit Sharma came up with a savage reply to the said accusations.

He said: “Many franchises have said that MI should not be allowed to play in Mumbai. So my opinion on that is that those franchises who are objecting, should construct 3-4 grounds each in their cities.”

Here is the video of the same:

The Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium are set to host 20 games each. Meanwhile, Cricket Club of India's (CCI) Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai alongside the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune will host 15 games each.
