IPL 2022: WATCH - "Badshah naya ya purana nahi hota," IPL captains poke fun at each other

IPL 2022 kick-started on 26th March with clash between KKR and CSK.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 kick-started with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, with KKR registering a 6-wicket win. The tournament will see 10 teams clashing with each other for the title. 

The league stage of the tournament is slated to be played across four venues in Maharashtra -Wankhede, Brabourne Stadium and DY Patil stadium in Mumbai and MCA stadium in Pune.

Ahead of the opening match of the IPL 15, the official Twitter account of the league posted a video in which skippers and members of the teams can be seen poking fun at each other. 

The video starts with Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul smiling in what seems to be a virtual meeting. MI skipper Rohit Sharma then joins and says “Arre pehle aap, pehle aap karke tum hi aa gaye sabse pehle?”, to which Rahul replied, “Open karna to tumse he seekha hai Rohit."

As the two were about the start the conversion, GT captain Hardik Pandya pops in and says “Gazab toh hum hi machayenge.” After that DC skipper, Rishabh Pant along with former RCB captain Virat Kohli join the conference call. 

As KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer joins, Kohli welcomes him by saying “Lo naye Badshah bhi aa gaye?”, replying to which the right-hander says “Badshah naya ya purana nahi hota. Usme fire hamesha hota hai. Na jhukega, na rukhega?”

Apart from them PBKS skipper Mayank Agarwal, SRH’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar, CSK’s new skipper Ravindra Jadeja can also be seen in the video. In the end RR’s leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also made a surprise entry.
