MS Dhoni put on a show with the bat in Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) IPL 2022 opener against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (March 26).
Dhoni arrived in the middle after Shivam Dube’s dismissal in the 11th over. Upon his entry, the former CSK skipper received a rousing reception from the Wankhede crowd and he didn’t disappoint the fans.
Initially, Dhoni took a bit of time and rotated the strike to bail CSK out of trouble alongside captain Ravindra Jadeja. However, Dhoni went bizarre in the death overs, helping the Super Kings to accumulate 47 runs from the last 18 balls which propelled them to a competitive total of 131/5 in 20 overs.
MS Dhoni eventually finished with 50 not out off 38 balls and his knock was studded with 7 fours and 1 six. In the process, he also shared an unbroken 70-run stand with Jadeja, who ended with 26 not out.
For his stunning knock in the IPL 2022 opener, MS Dhoni received rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
