In what can only be said as a watershed moment for the four-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK), their mercurial captain MS Dhoni stepped down from the post and decided to pass the baton to all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on March 24, 2022.

"MS Dhoni was thinking about it. He felt it is the right time to hand over captaincy to Jaddu [Jadeja]. He feels Jaddu is also in prime form of his career and it is the ideal time for him lead CSK. What will be good for the franchise must be [in the] back of his mind," CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan told ESPNCricinfo.

MS Dhoni has an amazing record as CSK captain winning four IPL titles in 2010,2011, 2018, and 2021 and one Champions League title. They made it into the playoffs of all the Indian Premier League editions the franchise participated in barring the IPL 2020 edition, where they finished 7th.

The Jharkhand resident took the Chennai Super Kings to enviable heights in the IPL and today as he decide to pass the captaincy to Ravindra Jadeja for the IPL 2022 season, IPL and CSK fans got emotional and many called it the end of an era and some even said that CSK will no longer be the same without Dhoni at the helm.
