Former Indian cricketer Reetinder Singh Sodhi has made a big statement on MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain, ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2022).

As the upcoming IPL 2022 is just four days away, with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opening the season on March 26, Reetinder has a crucial suggestion for the CSK skipper.

The former cricketer said that Dhoni isn’t the same big-hitter now that he was a few years back, and therefore, he wants him to bat up in the order for CSK in the upcoming IPL 15.

Notably, Dhoni hasn't been as effective with the bat over the last couple of IPL seasons, as he made a total of 200 runs at an average of 25 in the IPL 2022, while his performance further dipped last season, scoring only 114 runs at an average of 16.28 in the IPL 2021.

Sodhi said on India News: “MS Dhoni has to bat up the order because he is no longer the same finisher that he was known to be a few years back. If he takes his time, comes in the 10th or 11th over, he can hit the lusty blows later. MS Dhoni knows that he is the key to CSK's prospects.”

He also believes that if the star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja continues to take his current form into the IPL 15, he can take CSK to the IPL 15 final given his dramatic improvements as a batter.

Sodhi signed off by saying, “Jadeja's form will be very important. The way he batted in the Mohali Test match, the way he is bowling, are great signs for Chennai that if he picks form, he can take Chennai to the IPL final. Jadeja, Dhoni - all these big players have to take a lot of responsibility.”
