Wood had bowled just 17 overs during the first Test against West Indies in North Sound before pulling out of the contest citing an elbow issue. Wood had been picked by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for INR 7.5 crores in the IPL 2022 auction. However, the franchise has reportedly received a medical update from the England board (ECB), that due to his elbow injury, Mark Wood has been ruled out of bowling for the time being. The franchise has not yet zeroed in on a replacement.

England players’ participation in the IPL 2022 has been diminishing quite significantly as Ben Stokes had pulled out of the tournament and didn’t enter the IPL auction, while Jofra Archer while being picked by the Mumbai Indians, will not play in this edition.

Apart from Wood, two other English cricketers have already pulled out of the IPL 2022. Gujarat Titans’ Jason Roy and Kolkata Knight Riders Alex Hales have both cited bio-bubble fatigues for pulling out of the league.
