The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have revealed their captain for the upcoming IPL 2022 edition which will be played in India across four venues in Maharashtra state in Mumbai and Pune, and the first match will begin from March 26 and the final will be played on May 29.
The tournament will feature two new teams in Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) and the 10 teams have been divided into two groups of five each. RCB are placed with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Punjab Kings (PBKS), and Gujarat Titans (GT) in group B.

The RCB team has not reached the final of the tournament since the 2014 edition and during the IPL 2021 edition, team captain Virat Kohli had announced that it was his last as captain of the franchise.
RCB had retained three players before the IPL 2022 auctions in Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. They then splurged INR 7 crores in buying Faf du Plessis in the auction and RCB director of cricket Mike Hesson had said that they had very good leadership options in Maxwell and Du Plessis and it was expected that one of them will become the new RCB captain.
Now RCB has unveiled their new captain for the IPL 2022, on March 12. Faf du Plessis will lead the RCB team in the IPL 2022 and with his experience of leading the South Africa team for quite some time, and various other franchises across the world, expect him to do a pretty good job.
