Wasim Jaffer, the PBKS batting coach quit before the IPL 2022 auction.

Jonty Rhodes for PBKS | TwitterFormer South Africa fielding sensation Jonty Rhodes, who was the fielding coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Punjab Kings (PBKS), will now also don the hat of the team’s batting coach as well.

This comes, after Wasim Jaffer, who became the batting coach of the team in 2019, bid farewell to the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

Rhodes is considered one of the best fielders of all time and made 5935 runs in 245 ODIs and 2532 runs in 52 Tests.

Meanwhile, Anil Kumble remains the director of cricket and head coach of the team, Damien Wright holds the position of the fast bowling coach. Andy Flower, who was the assistant coach last season, has taken up the head coach role at the new franchise Lucknow Super Giants.

PBKS had retained only two players in Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh ahead of the IPL 2022 auction. However, they would consider themselves successful after bagging several top names like Shikhar Dhawan, Shahrukh Khan, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow, Odean Smith, Kagiso Rabada, and others at the event.

The franchise will also decide on their captain with Mayank Agarwal and Shikhar Dhawan leading the race.
