On the second day of the IPL 2022 mega auction in Bengaluru on Sunday, England's Liam Livingstone became the most expensive purchase. Punjab Kings (PBKS) went all out to sign Livingstone, paying a whopping INR 11.50 crores for him.
When the new IPL 2022 season begins, Punjab will hope to get the best out of the England cricketer, who has developed a reputation in recent years for his big-hitting ability. Livingstone sent out a message to Punjab Kings fans after his big payday on Sunday.
"Hello Punjab fans, it's Liam Livingstone here. Just a quick message to tell you how excited I am to represent the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022. Thanks to all the staff that picked me up in the auction today and I am really excited to get out to India and get the tournament started. Hopefully see you all soon," Livingstone said in a video posted by Punjab Kings on social media.
Meanwhile, Punjab Kings used its deep pockets to sign West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith for Rs 6.5 crores, who was impressive in the recently-concluded ODI series against India.

On the other hand, the Mumbai Indians paid a whopping Rs 8 crores for Jofra Archer despite his inability to play in the IPL in 2022.
The two-day IPL auction concluded on Sunday, with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings making the hefty pay-outs with larger purses available to them, while Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals now look formidable on the batting front but short on bowling arsenal.
