IPL 2022 Auction: PBKS gets Dhawan, Ashwin goes to RR, KKR buys back Cummins

Day one of the IPL 2022 began in Bengaluru.

Pat Cummins was bought back by KKR for INR 7.25 crs | IPL-BCCIThe IPL 2022 auction went underway in Bengaluru, as the first day of the two-day event began on February 12, 2022. More than 590 players are slated to go under the hammer with two new franchises, Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans, making their first appearance in the auction.

The IPL 2022 auction began with the 10 marquee list players auctioned first.

The first player to go under the hammer was Shikhar Dhawan. After a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals with a little involvement of Rajasthan Royals, Dhawan was bought by Punjab Kings for INR 8.25 crs.

The next player to be picked was R Ashwin. He got off slow, but then got bids from Delhi Capitals, and Rajasthan Royals. He finally was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 5 crs.

The third player from the marquee set was Pat Cummins from Australia. He had got a bid of INR 15.5 crores from KKR in IPL 2020 auction. He got a bidding war going between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders. And finally was bought back by the Kolkata franchise for INR 7.25 Crs.
