‘Hope you have a good auction’, SRH to David Warner after the latter takes a jibe at franchise

Warner has been released by SRH ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction.

David Warner | BCCI/IPLDavid Warner's fall-out with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 had shocked the cricket fraternity. Warner was sacked from captaincy before being axed from the playing XI as he endured his worst IPL season.

Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, the star Australian opener has been released by SRH and questions are still being raised over the treatment handed out to Warner, who led the franchise to their only title win in 2016.

Warner, who was the face of Sunrisers Hyderabad since 2014, still seems to be disappointed by the franchise for letting him go and doesn’t expect the SRH management to bid for him at the auction.

On Tuesday (December 28), a fan asked SRH head coach Tom Moody on Twitter, “How about having a good auction for srh tom? Please?”

To which, Warner replied: “Baha doubt it”, clearly venting out his frustration on the franchise and its management.

Interestingly, the official account Sunrisers Hyderabad replied to Warner’s tweet, stating: “Congrats on the Ashes win Davey - Looks like you are back to form and enjoying the after party! On the other hand we hope you have a good auction!”

SRH have retained only three players, Kane Williamson, Abdul Samad and Umran Malik, ahead of the mega auction. Apart from Warner, the Hyderabad-based franchise also released the likes of Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jonny Bairstow.

Warner is expected to attract huge bids in the IPL 2022 auction. He can also be roped in by two new teams Lucknow and Ahmedabad, who have a license to pick three players each prior to the auction.
