Ace Indian pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah had lent the first blow to the South Africa team, as he removed captain Dean Elgar for one runs as India began their defense of 327 runs in the first innings of the first Test in Centurion.
Indian batting collapsed from 272/3 to 327 all-out as Lungi Ngidi (6/72) and Kagiso Rabada with three wickets routed the visitors as they lost their last seven wickets for 55 runs. KL Rahul top-scored with 123 runs, while Ajinkya Rahane made 48.

However, tragedy struck India in the 11th over as Jasprit Bumrah twisted his ankle badly on his follow through and had to limp off the field with India physio Nitin Patel to get treatment, with Mohammed Siraj completing his over.
