The MS Dhoni-led side defeated KKR by a comprehensive margin of 27 runs to lift the IPL 2021 trophy. With this victory, Chennai also became the second IPL franchise after Mumbai Indians (5) to win the cash-rich tournament four times.

After the game, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah congratulated CSK and pointed out that the IPL 2021 season has been a "challenge" for everyone but everyone's "commitment, determination and dedication" made it possible.

He also promised that the 2022 edition of Indian Premier League will be bigger and better, referring to the addition of two new teams in the marquee competition.

"Congratulations to @ChennaiIPL for lifting the prestigious #IPL2021. This has been a challenging season for all of us but hats off to everyone for their commitment, determination & dedication. The 14th season will remain special. The @IPL from 2022 will get bigger & even better!" Jay Shah tweeted.

Notably, the first half of IPL 2021 was cancelled in May due to the second wave of COVID-19 in India and then the BCCI decided to shift the remaining 31 games to UAE. Like always, the tournament lived up to the expectations of cricket fans with quite a few high-voltage matches.
