Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scripted an epic comeback in IPL 2021 as they went from languishing at the seventh spot on the points table during the first-leg in India to confirming their third appearance in an IPL final in the ongoing UAE leg of the tournament.
KKR had a great game against the table-toppers Delhi Capitals (DC) as they registered an epic 3-wicket win over DC in a low-scoring encounter in Qualifier 2 on Wednesday (13 October) at Sharjah.
While KKR was celebrating this win, their wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik was reprimanded for breaching the IPL code of conduct and the Tamil Nadu-based cricketer has accepted the sanction.
Even though the exact nature of the breach was not revealed by IPL, the right-handed Karthik was seen dislodging a stump out of frustration after he was dismissed in the high-intensity game on Wednesday.

“Dinesh Karthik, the Kolkata Knight Riders wicketkeeper-batsman, has been reprimanded for breaching the (IPL's Code of Conduct during his team's Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals at Sharjah on Wednesday 13th October,” a statement issued by the IPL stated.
“Mr Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL's Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding,” it further said.
As far as Qualifier 2 is concerned, KKR’s in-form batter Rahul Tripathi kept his cool and smashed a six on the penultimate ball to take his team into their third IPL final against the three-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Friday (15 October) at Dubai.
KKR has previously made two IPL final appearances back in 2012 and 2014, with the Kolkata-based franchise winning the title on both those occasions.
