Pandey also said SRH leaked few more runs against MI and that cost them the match.

Stand-in skipper Manish Pandey said that Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a lot of changes in the side, but it didn't work for the franchise after his team’s another defeat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) against Mumbai Indians (MI) on Friday (October 8).

Sunrisers Hyderabad ended their disastrous IPL 2021 campaign as the bottom side with just 3 wins from 14 games, and Pandey admitted his team failed to live up to the expectations this season.

He also pointed out that SRH had a few individual performances, but there was no complete team performance, which couldn’t help the side in the IPL 14.

Coming to the MI v SRH game on Friday, Mumbai managed to post 235 in 20 overs against SRH, and the stand-in captain said his fast bowlers gave away a few extra runs that cost them the game, as SRH could score only 193 runs in 20 overs to suffer a 42-run defeat in Abu Dhabi.

Pandey said during the post-match presentation, “I thought we could have bowled a little better, our fast bowlers gave away a few extra runs and that cost us in the end. We won only three games, we had a lot of changes in the side, and they didn't work for us.”

He further added, “We were struggling a little bit, even in the early games in Chennai. We tried to do better in the second half, but unfortunately, we could not. We only had a few individual performances, but no complete team performance.”

SRH's stand-in skipper, who smashed fifty from 30 balls, said it was a very hot day in Abu Dhabi on Friday and his calves were cramping as he was batting after a long time.

He signed off by saying, “Very hot day today, a lot of work in the field to start with, an intense 20 overs for us as a bowling unit, and I batted for a long time today, and both my calves are cramping. The best surface we've played on in this tournament. We knew Mumbai would come hard at us, and they did.”
