CSK without MS Dhoni is not CSK, he’s more than a player to them- Agarkar, Swann on his IPL 2022 retention

Dhoni has not ruled out playing for CSK in IPL 2022 | BCCI-IPLMS Dhoni on Thursday, October 7, 2021, said that he is not sure whether he would turn out as a player for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022, but stressed that he will be part of the camp of the three-time IPL champions.

Dhoni, during the toss for the CSK v PBKS match, said he will make a decision that will be "good for everyone" after clarity comes over the retention rules for teams with 2 more new teams set to be added to the IPL in 2022.

"I actually would. He is more than just a player for CSK. CSK without Dhoni isn't CSK,” former England spinner Graeme Swann said while speaking to Star Sports.

Meanwhile, former India pacer Ajit Agarkar said MS Dhoni playing for CSK in IPL 2022 will be great news for the tournament.

"I think yeah, he spoke about it before that he clearly wants to play in front of the Chennai fans. Of course, it's a great thing for the IPL as well. he wants to do well as a player too. But it will all depend on the retentions and the Right to Match rules as well. The positive is he still wants to play, that's a good thing for CSK," Agarkar said.

Dhoni did not entirely rule out playing for CSK in IPL 2022 but pointed out that a decision will be made after the franchises learn about the retention and money cap for the next season.

Recently Dhoni was interacting with a fan during the 75th year celebrations of India Cements on Tuesday when he said fans will have the opportunity to say goodbyes to him in Chennai.
