Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo said CSK’s bowling unit prides itself on bowling well at the backend of an innings after their good bowling efforts against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in an IPL 2021 game in Sharjah on Friday (September 24).
On Friday, Bravo returned with impressive figures of 3/24 and was well supported by Shardul Thakur (2/29) and Deepak Chahar (1/35) to help Chennai Super Kings (CSK) restrict Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to 156 in Sharjah.
Chasing a target of 157, CSK batters produced collective efforts to chase down the total with six wickets in hand against RCB to go on the top of the IPL 14 points table on Friday.
After CSK’s back-to-back wins in the second leg of the IPL 2021, Bravo said Chennai’s brilliant run so far has put the side in a good position in the tournament while lauding his team’s efforts against RCB.
Bravo told CSK teammate Ambati Rayudu in a video shared by IPL: “I think it was a great team performance, we showed a good bowling display at the backend of the RCB's innings. It put us in a good position at the halfway stage. We had to chase 157 on a small ground like Sharjah. We will take it every other day.”
He added, “As a bowling group, we pride ourselves on the backend of the innings, we know it is tough. When you come up against quality batters, you have to just back your skills.”
On his bowling performance, the all-rounder said: “For me, before the game, I try bowling around the wicket in the nets session and I try to land wide yorkers just to try to mix up the angles and give myself the best option to go straight or wide. It worked against RCB, Jadeja's spell was very crucial. We tried to shut RCB down and it worked.”
Noteworthy, CSK will next lock horns against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 14 on Sunday, September 26 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
