Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have a terrible head-to-head record against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have won only 6 out of 28 head-to-head matches, while MI defeated them in 22 encounters.
But despite great success against KKR in the past, MI captain Rohit Sharma is not going to take the upcoming match on Thursday (September 23) lightly. He said that beating Eoin Morgan-led side won't be a "cakewalk" for them as they are a very good team.
"KKR is a good opposition. They play cricket really well as a team. They will obviously be coming off with some confidence after their last win. So, it's not going to be a cakewalk for us," said Rohit in a video posted by the franchise on social media.

Mumbai have won 11 matches in their last 12 face-offs against Kolkata. However, Rohit knows they need to start fresh for every match. "I honestly don't believe in past records because in T20, it depends on that particular day what happens. You have to be the best on that day," he said.
"I know we've had a very handy record against them but it's important that we turn up really well on that particular day and do the job," he added.
Currently, the Rohit-led side is at number 4 in the points table with 4 wins. They were defeated by Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural match of the IPL 2021's second phase in Dubai.
"When you are chasing a score of 157, you need to build those small partnerships and make sure that you are keeping yourself in the game for as long as possible," Rohit said on their defeat against CSK.
Mumbai's pacer Adam Milne was outstanding with the ball against CSK and Rohit lauded the speedster for a good start. "Adam Milne is coming off from a very important tournament in the UK. He is a good bowler, bowls really fast. It's all about getting that confidence and he got that in the first game, so I just hope that he builds on it," the MI skipper said.
MI have to win four more matches in the remaining six games to ensure a place in the top four. Rohit wants his team to tick all the small boxes to utilize their squad's strength. "We have to come back and come back really strong and tick those small boxes. I think if you look at the potential in this squad, we've got all the bases covered," he concluded.
