IPL 2021: Deepak Hooda’s match-day Instagram post under BCCI-ACU scanner for possible violations

Hooda scored a duck and gave 37 runs in his 2 overs against RR.

Deepak Hooda in action against RR | BCCI-IPLPunjab Kings’ (PBKS) batsman Deepak Hooda didn’t have a very good day against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their encounter on September 21 in Dubai, as he scored a duck and his team lost the match by 2 runs in the second half of the IPL 2021.

Now things have gotten more serious for Hooda, whose Instagram post is under scanner by the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), which is headed by Shabir Hussein Shekhadam Khandwawala, for possible violations of social media guidelines.

The BCCI ACU is keeping a close eye on the social media activities of players as they believe any approaches if made, will be done via social media in today’s tech-powered world.

Speaking to ANI, an ACU official said while the Instagram post missed the team, they will definitely look into it to see if it violates the rules set by the BCCI ACU.

"ACU will look into this post. Our restrictions are that there shall not be any talk about the composition of the team," the official said.

The said post under scanner was made by Deepak Hooda on his official Instagram account on Tuesday, 2 pm. He uploaded a photo of himself in PBKS gear putting on the team helmet.

"Here we go @punjabkingsipl #pbksvsrr #ipl2021 #saddapunjab,” was the caption of the post.

Asked if there has been any discussion on how cricketers should react to social media messages that they get from fans and followers on Direct Messages, the ACU official said: "There is a guideline on the dos and don'ts."
