Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Kartik Tyagi said bowling the final over was a “do or die situation” for him and he was just “thinking about bowling six yorkers” against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their IPL 2021 game at Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday (September 21).
PBKS was in the winning position against Rajasthan Royals (RR), but it was Tyagi who snatched an incredible win for his team from the jaws of defeat in Dubai on Tuesday. The young pacer snared two wickets and was adjudged Man of The Match for his match-winning efforts against PBKS.
Defending the 4 runs off 6 balls against PBKS on Tuesday, Tyagi bowled full and wide of the stumps, including some yorkers, to dismiss Nicholas Pooran (32) and Deepak Hooda (0) while conceding only one run to secure a thrilling 2-run win for RR.
Tyagi told his RR teammate Mahipal Lomror in a video shared by IPL on Twitter: “It was a do or die situation for me when I was bowling the last over. I was just thinking about bowling, I wanted to bowl six yorkers and I was able to execute it. It was a good feeling when everyone came up to me when we won."
Meanwhile, Mahipal Lomror scored 43 runs to help RR post 185 runs on the board against PBKS.
Lomror told Tyagi: “When the ball was there in my slot, I went after it. I just thought about dispatching the bad balls away for runs. When it was in my slot, I went after it.”
Noteworthy, RR will next lock horns against Delhi Capitals on September 25 in Abu Dhabi.
