IPL 2021: Kieron Pollard gives update on Rohit Sharma’s injury

MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bat first against MI.

Rohit Sharma | MI TwitterThe IPL 2021 resumed with the blockbuster clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Dubai on September 19. The much-awaited most popular T20 league in the world was suspended in May this year due to the COVID pandemic in India and was later shifted to UAE by the BCCI.

It was later announced that arch-rivals CSK and MI will clash in the opening bout of the second leg and everyone held their breath to see MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma walking out for the toss in Dubai.

The crowd in the stadium was ecstatic for the match, but not only them but fans and people watching on other mediums were left confused as Kieron Pollard walked out to join MS Dhoni for the toss.

IPL 2021: 'Just want to start well again', says CSK coach Stephen Fleming ahead of CSK-MI tie

Many worried if Rohit Sharma had gotten injured or something and hence when Kieron Pollard was asked by Murali Kartik about the Indian opener’s status, the West Indian replied: "We weren't so sure, so happy that I lost the toss. Rohit is okay, he'll be fine sooner rather than later, I'm just the captain for today."

The West Indies allrounder went on to explain the team news - with another big surprise coming in the form of absent Hardik Pandya.

"We started a couple of months back, and we were just starting to build the momentum with a couple of wins. Rohit misses out, Hardik is not playing as well. Anmolpreet makes his debut, that's about it, all others are regular players," Pollard said.
