With the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) set to resume on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has granted permission to all the IPL franchises to start departing for the UAE after August 10.

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) reportedly plans to travel to Dubai next weekend to begin preparations for the second phase of the IPL 2021, as per reports. Notably, a total of 31 matches will be played in the duration of 27 days – 13 matches will be held in Dubai, 10 in Sharjah, and 8 in Abu Dhabi.

The IPL 14 will resume with the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) locking horns with the CSK on September 19 and the CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has confirmed that the three-time champions are looking to arrive in Dubai on August 14 or 15.

Viswanathan told ANI on Monday, August 2: “We are looking to leave for the UAE on August 14-15 as the BCCI has said teams can leave after August 10.”

Meanwhile, the availability of overseas players for the second phase of the IPL 14 has been a big cause of concern for the franchises, as the event is being held outside its usual window in April-May.

The players from New Zealand, South Africa, and West Indies are expected to feature in the remainder of the IPL 2021.

However, with England's tour of Bangladesh in September being postponed, the chances of availability of their players have increased dramatically and it has been reported by the Telegraph that ECB might allow England players to play in the IPL 2021, which is seen as a good preparation for T20 World Cup which will also take place in UAE.
