As the number of COVID-19 cases was rising all across the country, players and some members of the support staff testing positive proved to be the last straw as both BCCI and IPL governing council decided to indefinitely suspend IPL 2021 mid-season.

With the suspension of the league, all the players headed their homes, but since India had the highest numbers when it came to COVID-19 cases, a lot of countries had imposed a ban on flights coming from India, thus it was a challenge to get all the foreign players home.

Cricket West Indies CEO Johnny Grave has confirmed that all the Caribbean players involved in the IPL have returned home safely.

“Our IPL players, along with the West Indians who were part of the TV production, are now safely back in the Caribbean. We are grateful to the @BCCI and IPL Franchises for arranging their safe travel back to the Caribbean so quickly,” Cricket West Indies tweeted.

All the Australians and some New Zealand players are currently in the Maldives and are serving their quarantine before starting their journey home.

Thus, apart from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Tim Seifert and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batting coach Michael Hussey who had tested positive for COVID-19, all other foreign players and support staff members have exited the Indian borders.
