IPL 2021: "LOL", Jimmy Neesham reacts to Mitchell McClenaghan liking tweets against him

Neesham also said he would take a golden duck if the teams wins | BCCI-IPLNew Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham reacted with a LOL when a fan made him aware that his fellow Kiwi Mitchell McClenaghan had liked a bunch of tweets criticizing him for his golden duck against Mumbai Indians’ (MI) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 1, 2021.

CSK posted a massive 218 batting first against MI in the match that was played in Delhi. Ambati Rayudu made 72* in 27 balls with 7 sixes and 4 fours, while Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis also slammed quick half-centuries.

MI at 81/3 in 10 overs looked out of the chase, but Kieron Pollard unleashed his inner beast, slamming 87* in 34 balls with 8 sixes and 6 fours, taking MI to a brilliant victory on the last ball. During this chase, Jimmy Neesham, who was making his debut for Mumbai Indians, got out on a golden duck, caught by Shardul Thakur off Sam Curran.

IPL 2021: "Kieron Pollard probably played his best innings in the IPL," says CSK coach Stephen Fleming

This led to Twitterverse making fun of Neesham, who had replaced Nathan Coulter-Nile in the MI playing XI.

Interesting thing was that Mitchel McClenaghan, former MI player, and Neesham’s country mate, had liked a series of tweets criticizing Jimmy Neesham for his performance with the ball against CSK  and sharing various stats on the all-rounder's bowling abilities.

McClenaghan also asked a fan to ‘prove it, when he said that Neesham was better than him.

Meanwhile, when a fan shared a screenshot of McClenaghan’s liked tweets about Jimmy Neesham's bowling performance against CSK, where he gave 26 runs in 2 overs, the all-rounder just replied with ‘LOL’.

Neesham also explained why he would take a golden duck instead of a not out in the same scenario again.

“Here’s the thing a lot of you don’t seem to understand: I would rather get a golden duck taking an option that gives my team the best chance of winning, than get a not out taking an option that preserves my personal record,” Neesham tweeted.
