Mumbai Indians (MI) wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock said that his side was aware that they need to step up their game to win more matches as they completed a 7-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an IPL 2021 encounter.
Mumbai Indians completed a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in their sixth match of IPL 14 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
Chasing RR’s target of 172 runs, Quinton de Kock carried his bat throughout the innings and helped Rohit Sharma-led side return to winning ways in the tournament.
The southpaw smashed unbeaten 70 off 50 balls and brought an end to his lean run as he registered scores of 2, 40, 2, and 3 in his four previous outings in the tournament.
The left-handed batsman was awarded the Man of the Match for his innings as MI trounced the Sanju Samson-led franchise to gain two points in the marquee tournament.
While addressing the press conference, Quinton de Kock said that they are happy to win the match. He added that there was a specific team talk about the batters stepping up and it was important for their batting lineup to start scoring runs and help their bowlers.
"Obviously, it was a little bit easier to bat out here, but we still had to get the job done. It was quite pleasant and we are just happy to win the match. We spoke about it, as a batting unit we know we have to step it up now.
“We know it is important for our batting lineup to start scoring big runs and start helping out our bowlers, so glad we got over the line,” Quinton de Kock said during the virtual press conference.
De Kock said that they as a team are trying that one of their top four batsmen should stay till the end and finish the game and moving from Chennai to Delhi has helped them.
"I think just genuinely with our team, we are trying one of tour four batters to stay till the end, but yeah, we did that today, honestly, moving from Chennai to Delhi has helped a bit so I am sure there will be a lot more fireworks for our guys to come," he said.

While talking about the COVID-19 situation in India, De Kock said that:
“To be honest, we trust our doctors so we are pretty safe in our bio-bubble, we feel safe. It has been easy, we take precautions wherever we go so I have felt quite safe, it has been easy to get on with the game,” he concluded.
With this win, MI retained the fourth position in the points table and will next take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday (1st May) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
