Delhi Capitals (DC) skipper Rishabh Pant while talking about their win against defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 13 of IPL 2021 said that they are looking to groom Lalit Yadav.

Opting to bat first, Mumbai Indians were looking set for a big target and were well placed at 76 for 2 in the ninth over. However, DC skipper Rishabh Pant turned to veteran leg-spinner Amit Mishra, who changed momentum towards his team by picking up four wickets and helped this team to restrict MI to 138 runs.

Replying to MI’s score of 138 runs DC on account Shikhar Dhawan’s 45 and Steve Smith’s 33 runs chased the target in the last over and registered their third win of IPL 14.

However, apart from Amit Mishra, Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith, Lalit Yadav was the unsung hero for Rishabh Pant-led side.

The 24-year-old claimed 1 wicket with the ball and scored 22* runs with the bat and ensured that his team didn’t falter towards the end.

Speaking in the post-match presentation after the match, DC skipper Rishabh Pant lauded Lalit Yadav as a great Indian player and said that they are looking to groom him.

“I think Lalit is a great Indian player and we are looking to groom him. Everything [Bumrah's no-balls] helps in the end if you win the match,” Rishabh Pant said during the post-match presentation

Pant further said that when they started the match they were under a bit of pressure but Amit Mishra brought them back into the game. He added that it was a difficult pitch to bat on and they wanted to restrict them to at least 140-150.

“When we started, we were under a bit of pressure, but Mishi bhai got us back into the game. It was a low-scoring match, but a difficult pitch to bat on. We just wanted to keep it simple and we wanted to restrict them to at least 140-150,” he said.

With three out of four wins in their bag Delhi Capitals moved to second in the points table, only behind Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The Rishabh Pant-led side will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday 25th April at Chennai.
