Delhi capitals (DC) opener Shikhar Dhawan while talking about his match-winning knock against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the match 11 of IPL 2021 said that he’s not afraid of changes or getting out.
Delhi Capitals (DC) thumped Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 wickets in their third match of IPL 14 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
Chasing the mammoth target of 196 runs, DC batsman Shikhar Dhawan yet again played a sensational innings of 92 off just 49 balls and ensured that his team end on the winning note.
The 35-year-old smashed PBKS’ bowlers all around the park in his knock of 92 runs, which included 13 boundaries and two huge maximums, as DC completed a comfortable chase with 8 balls to spare.
The southpaw was also awarded man of the match for his heroics. While talking about his innings at post-match presentation, Shikhar Dhawan said that it was ‘conscious’ batting effort from his side as he’s not afraid of changes and getting out. He added that he has worked on his leg-side game as well.
“It was a conscious effort from my side and I started taking more risks. I’m not afraid of changes. I’m always open towards changes and I make sure I give it a good try in the nets and then in the games. I’m not scared of getting out as well. I’ve worked on the leg-side shots, coming in the crease, using the pace of the bowler,” Shikhar Dhawan said during the post-match presentation.
Dhawan said that his slog shot has improved a lot as he’s much more relaxed these days. He added that he’s enjoys batting with Prithvi Shaw as they make huge impact which is great for their team.
“Depends who’s bowling and what plans I make for them. My slog shot has improved. It was there before as well, but now it’s more. I’m very relaxed these days.
“I’ve played for so many years, if I’m not relaxed at this time, then when? I’m relaxed but also attentive. It’s very good batting with Shaw, we made a huge impact and that was great for our team,” he said.
With two wins out of three matches in their bag Rishabh Pant-led side will next face defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) on 20th April at Chennai.
