England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is currently with the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the IPL 2021, was ruled out of the tournament because of a fractured finger he suffered during his side’s match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Stokes, who scored a duck in the match, broke his left index finger while taking the catch of PBKS batsman Chris Gayle and immediately left the field after been in visible pain while celebrating the wicket with his teammates.
"Awesome to see Ben Stokes talk about the women's IPL", says Heather Knight
It was later reported that X-rays revealed a fracture on his index finger of the left hand and he would undergo further tests and remain with the RR franchise until the results came. The ECB was in touch with RR team management to take updates regarding his injury and charting a path for his treatment and recovery.
Now the ECB has given a major update on Ben Stokes’s injury and announced that he will be out for up to 12 weeks after a repeat X-ray and CT scan on Thursday revealed that he has a fracture of his left index finger. He will fly home tomorrow. And will have surgery in Leeds on Monday.
