The 7th match of the IPL 2021 featured Rajasthan Royals (RR) taking on Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. DC was coming off a win against Chennai Super Kings, while RR lost to Punjab Kings in their respective first matches.
Sanju Samson won the toss for the second time running and put in Capitals into bat first. Both teams made a couple of changes. David Miller came into the RR playing XI in place of Ben Stokes, who was ruled out of the IPL 2021 due to a broken finger. Also, Jaydev Unadkat was brought in place of Shreyas Gopal.

Delhi Capitals included Kagiso Rabada in place of Shimron Hetmyer and Lalit Yadav made his DC debut in place of veteran leggie Amit Mishra.
Unadkat picked the first 3 DC wickets to fall, that of Shikhar Dhawan (9), Prithvi Shaw (2), and Ajinkya Rahane (8). Rishabh Pant made 51 in 31 balls with 9 fours, while Lalit Yadav (20), Tom Curran (21), and Chris Woakes (15*) contributed to DC’s final total of 147/8.
Unadkat picked 3/15, while Mustafizur took 2/29, as DC failed to hit a single six.
Chris Woakes, Kagiso Rabada, and Avesh Khan sent the top four RR batsmen back into the hut for single-digit scores. Then David Miller hit 62 in 43 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes, while Rahul Tewatia made 19.

However, it came down to 12 runs off the last over from Tom Curran and Chris Morris smacked two sixes off him and won the match by 3 wickets in hand. Chris Morris remained unbeaten on 36 off 18 balls with 4 sixes to his name.
Avesh Khan took 3/32, while Rabada and Woakes picked two wickets each.
The cricket fraternity was elated by the way Chris Morris won the game for RR, especially after he was denied the single off the penultimate ball by Sanju Samson against PBKS, a match they lost as 5 runs were needed off the last ball.
