Ace Indian tennis star Sania Mirza's father Imran Mirza has expressed his disappointment over the lack of local players in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team in the ongoing 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) after the franchise suffered its second consecutive loss in the tournament.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a forgettable start to their IPL 2021 campaign as they lost both closely fought games against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) respectively.

Having suffered a 10-run defeat at the hands of KKR in their first game in the IPL 14, the SRH on Wednesday (April 14) yet again failed to capitalize on the momentum and lost the game from a winning position against RCB at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
SRH’s 4-run loss to RCB on Wednesday has left their fans frustrate and Sania Mirza's father has expressed his disappointment over the loss, as well as, slammed the BCCI for not considering Hyderabad among the six venues for the ongoing IPL 2021.
BCCI selected Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, and Kolkata as the venues for the ongoing IPL 14 and Mr. Mirza was dejected that the IPL GC and the Indian cricket board didn’t consider Hyderabad to be capable of organizing the games and allowed COVID-19 hotspot to host the matches.
While pointing out there is already no local player in the SRH squad, he said SRH will end up with few wins and dwindling home support on Twitter following their 6-run loss to RCB.
Mr. Mirza tweeted: “No local player was considered good enough to be selected in SRH. They even didn't think Hyderabad is a safe venue to host matches while seriously Covid-hit centers got the nod. Looks like SRH will end up with few wins and dwindling home support. Time to introspect.”
Noteworthy, Hyderabad is known for producing cricket and badminton stars like Sania Mirza, Mohammed Azharuddin, VVS Laxman, and you star Mohammed Siraj.
Earlier, the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President Azharuddin had offered facilities of the HCA for IPL 2021, but the BCCI reportedly denied the offer.
