Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma has talked about saving wildlife as he even wore ‘Save the Rhinos’ spikes in the opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 9 April.
After the match against RCB, Rohit had talked about current wildlife and environmental issues on social media.
The defending champions won their first match of the IPL 2021 campaign as they handed a 10-run loss to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday (13 April). Even after this match, the right-hand batsman from Mumbai took to Twitter and talked about making out ocean plastic free.
“The other cause that’s extremely close to my heart. This one hits hard! This is a hundred percent in our control to reverse. I take my cause with me while I go out and do what I love! I walk out with my cause but it won’t end there, I need you guys to walk with me. Let’s get our oceans healthy again,” he wrote on Twitter.
The tweet from the 33-year-old also included a photo of him donning his new spikes which emphasized on his cause plastic free ocean by a piece of shoe art that showed a turtle in clear blue water.

After winning against KKR, the Mumbai-based franchise made it 22-6 in the 28 matches the two sides have played since the beginning of IPL. Rohit Sharma and Co. will now be taking field against David Warner’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on 17 April in Chennai.
