Before the IPL 2021 began on April 9, the PBKS franchise unveiled their new-look jersey and kit which was all in red with a golden design. The players would wear a golden helmet and golden pads, instead of silver ones like they did in IPL 2020.

However the new-look PBKS jersey and kit, reminded the fans of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) kit design from the inaugural IPL 2008 season when they were captained by Rahul Dravid. That jersey was also red with a golden design and the players wore golden helmets.

This led to many fans on Twitter taking jibes on the new PBKS kit and RCB player Yuzvendra Chahal also decided to contribute to the trolling by posting a video of former RCB players Chris Gayle and KL Rahul in the new kit.

Welcome to @RCBTweets boys  @henrygayle @klrahul11,” he tweeted.

The two teams will face each other for the first time in the IPL 2021 on April 30th with PBKS playing hosts to RCB at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This led to KL Rahul responding to Chahal’s tweet.

“Wear your away jersey on the 30th @yuzi_chahal,” Rahul said.

PBKS started their IPL 2021 campaign with a win, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a high-scoring contest at Wankhede, Mumbai. PBKS batted first and put 221/6 on the board with Kl Rahul making 91 and Deepak Hooda making 64.

In reply, Sanju Samson made 119 on his captaincy debut and took RR to 217/7 getting out on the last ball going for a six when 5 runs were needed to win the match.

RCB, on the other hand, defeated Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener in Chennai in a low-scoring contest by 2 wickets.
