Delhi Capitals (DC) opener Prithvi Shaw, while talking about his knock against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2021 tournament opener, said that is not thinking about his India return and instead is focused on working hard and improving himself.
Delhi Capitals thumped Chennai Super Kings in the second match of IPL 2021 by 7 wickets. One of the main architects behind their victory was the young opener, Prithvi Shaw.
After being dropped from the Indian team after the humiliating Adelaide Test defeat in December, Prithvi Shaw worked hard on his technique and led Mumbai to a Vijay Hazare Trophy win last month, where he amassed 827 runs – the most by any batsman in a single season.
The 21-year-old carried his red hot form into the IPL as took charge against the CSK bowlers and stitched 138 runs partnership for the first wicket with Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 85 runs, and helped DC to chase the mammoth target of 189 runs with ease.

Prithvi Shaw was the aggressor among the duo as he smashed CSK bowlers all around the park and scored 38-ball 72 runs which included 9 fours and 3 sixes.
While talking about the victory against CSK, Prithvi Shaw said that it feels good to contribute to and was a good start to the season.
"Feeling good. Everyone contributed and it was a good start (to the season). The wicket was good to bat on in the second innings and we executed quite well," Prithvi Shaw said after the match.
Shaw said that after getting dropped from Team India in Australia he worked hard and practiced with coach Pravin Amre before going into Vijay Hazare Trophy. He added that he had a good plan going into the domestic tournament and it worked well for him.
"From Australia when I was dropped I was working from there itself, coming back and across early, so I practiced before going to Vijay Hazare with Pravin Amre and worked on that. I had a good plan before going into that tournament, so it is working quite well," he said.
Prithvi Shaw further said that he doesn’t want to think about getting dropped from the Indian side instead he’s working hard on himself to make himself better.
"I don't want to think about it (being dropped from the Indian side) because it was a disappointing moment for me but I have to move on and if something is wrong with my batting or technique, I have to improve and I am working hard on myself," he concluded.
Delhi Capitals will next face Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 15th April in Mumbai.
