Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has made his prediction of the Purple Cap winner in IPL 2021 just a few days before the start of the tournament.

Cricketer-turned-expert Aakash Chopra has picked Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner from Afghanistan, Rashid Khan, as his choice to win the coveted Purple Cap by picking up the most wickets in IPL 2021.

Among fast bowlers, he went for MI's Jasprit Bumrah and SRH's Bhuvneshwar Kumar to be one of the highest wicket-takers in the tournament.

The 43-year-old's reasoning behind Rashid as the first-choice contender was that the spinner will be playing 9 out of his 14 league stage games in spin-friendly conditions in Chennai and Delhi.

Aakash Chopra told Star Sports, "I am going with Rashid Khan. His chances of picking the most wickets are bright this season. Amongst the fast bowlers, you could look at Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar."

The former cricketer believes that Rashid Khan would be feeling that he has won a lottery with so many of his games being played on tracks that will aid him. He also believes that the 22-year-old will pick 2-3 wickets each game.

"I am going with Rashid Khan because his first five games are in Chennai. Then he plays four in Delhi. He is playing nine out of 14 games on spin-friendly wickets. He would be feeling that he has won a lottery. Should be getting two to three wickets every game,” he added.
