Cricket South Africa (CSA) has allowed South Africa’s IPL-bound players to leave the upcoming three-match home ODI series against Pakistan mid-way in order to take the flight for India earlier so that they don’t miss the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021.
CSA had already allowed its IPL-bound players, who are part of South Africa’s T20I and ODI squads, to skip the four-match T20I series against Pakistan, but they have now also granted them permission to skip the final ODI in order to join their respective IPL teams before the IPL 2021 starts on April 9.
South Africa will have 10 players in the IPL 2021 with five of them set to play against Pakistan in the home series and they are Kagiso Rabada, Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi, David Miller, and Anrich Nortje – who all now will leave for India after the 2nd ODI on April 4 for IPL 14.

The CSA said in a release: “In terms of an agreement between CSA and the BCCI, those players awarded IPL contracts will be released early to join their respective teams.”
Meanwhile, the IPL franchises are planning to bring the Proteas players via a chartered flight earlier next month, so that the players don't miss the opening fixtures in the upcoming IPL 2021, as the team members and players do not need to do the mandatory seven-day quarantine in their hotel rooms if they are moving between bio-secure team bubbles via chartered flights, as per BCCI's SOPs.
However, the players and other support staff must undergo quarantine before they can link up with their teammates who are already in the bio-bubble for the IPL if they take commercial flights.
