IPL 2021: SRH has a good chance to win IPL this year, says Jonny Bairstow

England batsman Jonny Bairstow said he is very excited to join Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) next week ahead of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 starting April 9.

Lauding the world’s biggest T20 extravaganza, Bairstow said IPL is a fantastic tournament and every international cricketer in the world wants to play in the T20 league while saying his team SRH has a good chance of winning the IPL 14 title this year.

Last season, the SRH led by Australia’s David Warner finished third in the points table and the English keeper believes if they carry on from last year, the franchise would certainly make it big in the IPL 2021. The 31-year-old is in stunning form with the bat in the ongoing three-match ODI series in India.

His comments came after hitting his 11th ODI hundred to help England beat India by 6 wickets in the second ODI to level the ODI series on March 26 in Pune. He also made 94 runs in the first ODI. The series decider will be played at the same venue at Maharashtra Cricket Stadium on Sunday (March 28).

Bairstow said during the virtual press conference on Friday, “IPL is a fantastic tournament to be involved in, every international cricketer in the world wants to be involved in the IPL. I will be joining with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the next week or so.”

He added, “I’m really excited as we did pretty well last year and I think we have got a good chance again this year. There have been some really good signings and also performances and if we can put them in together as unite and carry on from last year that will be an exciting place to be.”

Noteworthy, the IPL 2021 will begin on April 9 with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians locking horns in the tournament opener in Mumbai while SunRisers Hyderabad will open their IPL 14 campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 11.
