As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has kicked off the preparations for the upcoming 14th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav is reported to be released by the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) ahead of the IPL 2021.
CSK is looking to move on from Jadhav ahead of IPL 14 because of his horrendous IPL 2020 season as he could score only 62 runs in eight matches and did not hit even one six in the last season held in the UAE.
It is being reported that the new IPL Governing Council held a virtual meeting on Monday, January 4 and after which the BCCI opened the trading window and asked all the IPL franchises to submit the list of retained and released players before January 20.
After the submission of the list of the players, the BCCI will announce the date for the IPL mini-auction for the IPL 14.
An InsideSport report claimed that Jadhav is all set to lose his contract worth whopping Rs 7.8 crore with CSK as the three-time IPL champions are not considering the 35-year-old to be part of their plans for the upcoming edition of the T20 event.

A source close to CSK team management told Insidesport, “Jadhav was not in best of form in IPL 2020. He was also struggling with his fitness. CSK will move on from Jadhav in IPL 2021, everyone in the team management feels that it will be prudent to take this hard call and invest in the future.”
Noteworthy, Jadhav had first joined CSK for Rs 7.8 crore in IPL 2018 where he played a match-winning knock of 24 in the first match before being ruled out of the complete season and then scored 162 runs before being ruled out of playoff matches in the IPL 2019.
Meanwhile, the IPL Auction 2021 is likely to be held on February 11 with the venue is yet to be decided with the IPL GC Chief Brijesh Patel monitoring the situation in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy before deciding anything further regarding the auction.
Noteworthy, CSK will be without the services of Shane Watson in the upcoming IPL 2021, as the Australians had retired from domestic cricket last year.
The franchise is also likely to release Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, and Imran Tahir with Suresh Raina highly likely to be seen in yellow again.
