The IPL 2020 proved to be yet another successful edition of the massively popular Indian T20 league, despite it being played behind closed doors, without crowds in stadiums. It was a feat for the BCCI to move the tournament out of India to UAE.
Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi hosted the matches and proved to be one of the most closely contested editions of the IPL. The teams in the playoffs were not decided until the last league match. Mumbai Indians went on to defeat Delhi Capitals in the final to lift their fifth IPL title and second in a row.

David Warner of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Quinton de Kock of Mumbai Indians are chosen as the openers of this Overseas XI of IPL 2020. Warner, who will also captain this side, made 548 runs in 16 matches, while De Kock made 503 runs in 16 matches. While Warner was the pillar of SRH batting, De Kock led the charge for MI, especially with Rohit struggling for runs.
Faf du Plessis was the star for Chennai Super Kings with 449 runs in what was a disappointing year for the Yellow army. Kings XI Punjab's Nicholas Pooran showed why West Indies rate him so high with amazing hitting displays, as he made 353 runs in 14 matches at a strike-rate of 169.71 and 25 sixes.
Kieron Pollard continued to helm the MI middle order. He even led the team when Rohit was injured and did justice as a leader. He made runs at a strike-rate of 191.42 and hit 22 sixes in his 268 tournament runs.
Sam Curran was the find for CSK in this IPL 2020 with 186 runs and 13 wickets to his name. He batted as a finisher, opened the innings for CSK, and was their most impressive bowler of the lot as well.
Meanwhile, Rashid Khan was the trump card for Warner’s SRH team in absence of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He picked 20 wickets in 16 matches, including the most economical figures in IPL history of 3/7.
Jofra Archer was rightly named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the IPL 2020 with his 20 wickets and 175 dot balls. He was the lone star bowler for Rajasthan Royals who struggled to find a suitable support attack for Archer.
Kagiso Rabada and Trent Boult were the star pacers for the respective franchises, with Rabada ending up with 30 wickets and the Purple Cap. Mumbai Indians gave Boult the new ball and Boult delivered with wickets in powerplays and a total of 25 scalps in 15 matches with the best of 4/18.
