Gayle made 288 runs in 7 matches, hitting 23 sixes in the process | BCCI/IPLKings XI Punjab (KXIP) star Chris Gayle lit up IPL 2020 with his amazing power hitting and helped KXIP make a big comeback and stake claim for a place in playoffs despite a disastrous start to their campaign.

After being benched for the initial part of the IPL 13 due to a stomach bug, Gayle was included in KXIP’s match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on October 15. He scored a half-century batting at no.3 and KXIP won that match by 8 wickets. This started a streak where KXIP won five matches out of seven they played with him in the side.

Gayle himself made 288 runs with a strike-rate of 137.14 with 3 half-centuries and a highest score of 99. However, KXIP became the second team to get knocked out after a 9-wicket thrashing at the hands of Chennai Super Kings in Abu Dhabi.

Chris Gayle on Monday took to Twitter and urged the fans to continue watching the IPL 2020 despite his early exit from the tournament. "Plz continue to watch @IPL even though my season has come to an end. Thank you Smiling face with smiling eyes #UniverseBoss," Gayle wrote on his official Twitter handle.

The burly left-hander became the first batsman to hit more than 1,000 sixes in T20 format during the tournament where he slammed 23 maximums.
