IPL 2020: Rohit Sharma likely to be in action against SRH despite not being named in India squads, says report

Rohit was left out of all three squads for the tour of Australia.

Rohit Sharma | IANSVeteran opener Rohit Sharma on Monday (October 26) was not named in any of India’s three squads for the Australia tour due to a recurring hamstring injury.

However, a PTI report claims that there is an outside chance of Rohit playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in a week’s time.

In Rohit’s absence, KL Rahul will be Virat Kohli’s deputy in the limited-overs teams.

“The BCCI Medical Team will continue to monitor the progress of Rohit Sharma and Ishant Sharma,” board secretary Jay Shah said in a media release announcing the squads.

Team India will play three T20Is, as many ODIs and four Tests during the tour Down Under, the schedule for which is yet to be announced.

Notably, Rohit hit the nets minutes after the team was announced and MI shared a video of his practice session on social media platforms.

There is a strong possibility that the Mumbai skipper will be seen in action against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on November 3, which is the last of the league games before the start of playoffs.

“If Rohit can play during the last week of IPL, that will be a good enough fitness test and then selectors can think of getting him back in the squad,” a source close to the cricketer told PTI.
