MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli share a special relationship with each other, as the former backed the latter during his initial days in international cricket and groomed him to become the next Indian captain. There is a lot of mutual respect between the two great cricketers from India.
This respect is visible even when both the players participate in the IPL as well, with Dhoni leading Chennai Super Kings and Kohli captaining Royal Challengers Bangalore. Dhoni has won the IPL thrice with CSK, while Kohli has led the team to the finals once.

However, in the ongoing IPL, the fortunes of the teams have been very different with RCB in the top half of the points table, while CSK is at the bottom and almost out of the tournament. As the two teams clashed in the 44th match of the ongoing IPL 2020 in Dubai, Dhoni and Kohli were seen conversing in the middle, when the RCB skipper came out to bat.

Meanwhile, RCB struggled to find momentum on the very slow pitch though AB de Villiers (39) and Virat Kohli (50) added 82 runs for the third wicket. Devdutt Padikkal also made 22 as RCB ended on 145/6 in 20 overs.
For CSK, Sam Curran picked 3/19, Deepak Chahar got 2/31 and Mitchell Santner also picked one wicket.
