Former England off-spinner Graeme Swann lavished praise on India and Delhi Capitals’ star opening batsman Prithvi Shaw ahead of DC’s IPL 2020 match against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday (October 17), comparing the youngster with legendary Virender Sehwag.

However, Shaw hasn’t been consistent with the bat for the DC in the ongoing 13th edition of the IPL 2020, having scored 202 runs from 8 matches so far at an average of 25.25 with 2 half-centuries in the UAE but his strike rate of 149.62 is tremendous for an opening batsman.

Speaking on the latest episode of Star Sports’ Cricket Connected, Swann has also lauded Shreyas Iyer's captaincy and DC coach Ricky Ponting apart from showering rich praise on Shaw.

Praising the 20-year-old, the former England spinner called the DC star a “miniature version of Sehwag” while saying the former destructive opener is one of his favorite Indian players of all time.

Swann said on the show: “There are a couple of things. Shreyas Iyer is a very very good leader. Ricky Ponting, I saw him smile after a game that he never did when he played against England. So, I think they are a happy camper.”

He further added, “Prithvi Shaw, as well. I love the way he bats; he is like a baby Sehwag, he is like a miniature version of Virender Sehwag, who was one of my favorite Indian players of all time.”

The IPL 2020 commentator also said DC – the second-ranked team with 12 points has a strong team in the ongoing IPL 13 where they will on Saturday take on CSK in Sharjah.

Swann signed off by saying, “I think, all in all, they have got a very strong team and they are playing with a lot of confidence. I think they look like the team to beat at the moment.”
